Real georeferenced 1815 boundaries (public domain, aourednik/historical-basemaps) -- the Congress of Vienna snapshot, closest real year to your 1705 divergence that still shows Tuscany, Modena, and Parma as their own separate states rather than unified Italy. Extended 2026-08-22 past Europe to Morocco, the Ottoman core, Egypt, Cyrenaica, the Arabian states (Nejd, Oman, Yemen), Persia, Afghanistan, and the Central Asian khanates -- the same source dataset always had these, this map just never asked for them before. Cyrenaica specifically was a real omission caught after the first pass, not a historical gap -- it's the real, separately-administered eastern Libyan province (Benghazi rather than Tripoli) that closes most of the visible gap between Tripolitania and Egypt. What real gaps remain (interior Arabia, the strip between Tripolitania/Cyrenaica and their neighbors, Fezzan) reflect genuine 1815 non-governance -- desert and tribal territory no organized state actually administered at this date, not further omissions. Also added: real coastal African/Indian Ocean powers that outside empires genuinely knew by this date (unlike the still-unmapped interior) and that meaningfully extend an existing theopire's reach -- Cape Colony (Protestant Confederacy, British), Angola and Portuguese East Africa (Catholic Union, Portuguese), the Kingdom of Kongo (Catholic Union -- a real independent native kingdom, Catholic since 1491, not a colonial label), Ethiopia (Orthodox Empire -- though its Oriental Orthodox tradition is theologically distinct from the Eastern/Byzantine Orthodoxy this bloc otherwise represents, split since the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD, bucketed together for lack of a dedicated bloc), and Zanzibar and Somalia (Sunni Caliphate -- genuinely, deeply Islamized coasts, Zanzibar under direct Omani control by this date). Left out on purpose: real coastal West/Southern African trading partners (Senegal, Sierra Leone, Asante, Oyo, Fante, Xhosa, Zulu) with traditional/indigenous religions that don't extend any theopire's story and would just render Unclassified -- functionally close to what the base landmass layer already shows, so not included by default. North America is out of scope for now too. Round two also added the real independent West African powers sitting over the old Mali/Songhai heartland: Sokoto Caliphate (the real Fulani jihadist state founded 1804, joining Sunni Caliphate as arguably the single best-fitting real analogue on this map) and Bornu-Kanem (Sunni Caliphate, Islamic since the 11th century); Kaarta, Mossi States, Asante, and Oyo, all independent and Unclassified -- deliberately NOT merged into one "Traditional/Indigenous" bloc, since unlike the real Abrahamic theopires these are separate, unrelated religions with no shared hierarchy, and some (Asante vs. Fante) were active rivals; and Fante, the one genuine exception -- a real, documented near-client relationship with Britain (not full annexation) earns it Affiliate-of-Protestant-Confederacy status rather than plain independence. Unclassified now gets its own real color (a distinct clay/amber) instead of blending into the base landmass gray. Round three pushed east into South/East Asia, where unlike interior Africa the European powers genuinely did know the ground by this date. British East India Company and Ceylon (Kandy fell to Britain in exactly 1815) join Protestant Confederacy outright; Mysore, Oudh, and Travancore join as real documented Affiliate Kingdoms -- formal Subsidiary Alliance treaties with the British (1799, 1801, and 1795 respectively), same Affiliate mechanism as Fante, not full annexation. Goa (Portuguese) and the Philippines (Spanish) join Catholic Union; Malaya and Brunei join Sunni Caliphate (Sunni Shafi'i, same real classification as the Islamized Dutch East Indies on the world theopire map). The Maratha Confederacy joins as an Affiliate Kingdom too (updated 2026-08-22) -- three of its four branches were already British subsidiary allies for a decade-plus by 1815, and the deliberate divergence here just advances the real, historically-inevitable defeat of the lone holdout branch (Holkar) by two years, closing it out in 1815 instead of the real 1817-18. Everything else -- Nepal (fresh off the 1814-16 Anglo-Nepalese War, still independent), Bhutan, Sikkim, Assam, Burma, Siam, Cambodia (a real Siam/Vietnam vassal, not clean independence), Vietnam, the Qing Empire, and Japan (closed under Sakoku, but genuinely known via the continuously-staffed Dutch post at Dejima since 1641) -- are independent, Unclassified, not forced into a theopire that has no real basis to claim them. Left out this round: Hong Kong (still Qing territory in 1815, British control starts 1842) and the Dutch East Indies (this exact source year is genuinely ambiguous -- Java was under British occupation 1811-1816, reverting to the Dutch only after this map's date, and the dataset's own polygon for it is a corrupted fragment anyway). Also removed (2026-08-22): Russian Alaska, which the original data pull had quietly included as part of the Russian Empire's geometry (it was just sitting far outside the visible viewBox, never rendered). Cut for consistency with the world theopire map's own founding premise -- the Americas were never reached by Old World colonization in this setting at all -- even though real Russia absolutely did hold and know about Alaska by 1815. Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific are left out on the same basis, matching that map's existing "Outside the known world (Thaer)" treatment of the region, rather than added as real 1815 geography the way Africa and Asia were. Also removed (2026-08-22): a Spanish Caribbean fragment (Cuba/Puerto Rico area) that had been quietly baked into the "Spain" geometry since the original data pull, the same way Alaska had been hiding in Russia's. Denmark's polygon was checked too and is clean -- its wide-looking longitude range turned out to be real Iceland and Greenland, not a hidden Danish Caribbean holding, so nothing needed removing there. And the base coastline layer itself (Natural Earth ne_110m_land) has been filtered down from all 127 world landmass fragments to the 50 that are actually Old World -- Antarctica, the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and the Melanesian/Hawaiian Pacific are gone from the background too, not just left unclassified on top of it. Greenland stays, by explicit exception, alongside Iceland, Svalbard, and Russia's other Arctic islands. A real coastline base layer (Natural Earth 1:110m ne_110m_land, no political borders) now sits underneath everything, so ground this map doesn't classify into any kingdom -- inner Arabia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the rest of Asia -- reads as real unclaimed land instead of blank sea-colored void. Three layers: Historical Baseline (default) is a plain 4-color map-coloring -- solved by an actual 4-color backtracking search over each state's real borders, drawn at 50% fill with a full-strength same-color border -- that carries no meaning beyond keeping neighbors visually distinct. Theopire level folds every region into one of the four theopires plus a real fifth bloc, Shia Bloc (Persia -- Twelver Shia since the Safavids, genuinely distinct from its Sunni neighbors, not the same family), and a Contested/Mixed catch-all now also covering Yemen (split between the Zaidi Shia highland Imamate and the Sunni Shafi'i coast) alongside Switzerland; Oman's Ibadi Islam -- a real third branch, neither Sunni nor Shia -- is bucketed under Sunni Caliphate for lack of a dedicated bloc, a simplification worth naming rather than hiding. Constituent kingdoms shows the finer-grained post-Yawning political units -- Dreikronerreich [Austria + Spain], Censer of Vigils [Tuscany], Habsburg-Este [Modena], French Concessions [Parma, Two Sicilies], and now also Morocco/Tripolitania/Tunis/Algiers/Egypt/Nejd/Afghanistan/the Central Asian khanates/Turan as their own separate real polities, each a tint of the Sunni Caliphate's green -- fragmented at the kingdom level, federated at the theopire level, same pattern as the Catholic bloc. 2026-08-23: the Balkans/Constantinople region now bakes in the outcome of a separate, later story event (the Bosphorus Ledger war and its 1775 partition, worked out before this map existed) rather than staying frozen at the real 1815 Ottoman extent, since 1775 predates this snapshot. Real Natural Earth country boundaries (50m resolution, upgraded from an initial 110m pass that silently dropped North Macedonia and Moldova and under-resolved several Aegean islands -- caught on review and corrected) for Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herz., Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Romania, and Moldova were clipped against the old monolithic Ottoman Empire polygon (Greece uses its full modern coastline rather than a strict clip, since the source 1815 Ottoman polygon under-resolves some smaller islands and a partition decisive enough to take half of Constantinople plausibly took the islands too); real Natural Earth admin-1 province boundaries (Edirne, Kirklareli, Tekirdag, and the European half of Istanbul province, split at the Bosphorus’s ~29.00°E) supply Eastern Thrace/Constantinople specifically, since a strait cut has no country-level boundary to clip against. Greece and Bulgaria form the new independent Greater Greece; Albania goes to the Papal States; Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia join Dreikronerreich; Romania and Moldova share one Orthodox Empire kingdom, and Eastern Thrace becomes its own, alongside Russia and Ethiopia. What remains of ‘Ottoman Empire’ is Anatolia and the rest of the Sunni Caliphate’s core, not the whole 1815 extent. 2026-08-23 (second pass): two more fragments turned up while reviewing this region -- Budjak (northern Black Sea coast, east of the Danube delta) and Bukovina (north of Moldova/Romania), both still carried as 'Ottoman Empire' in the source 1815 boundary data despite real history putting them under Russia (1812) and the Habsburgs (1775) respectively by this map's date. Unlike the rest of this section's changes, this fix has nothing to do with the fictional 1775 partition -- it's a correction to a pre-existing inaccuracy in the base 1815 data, caught only because the partition work meant scrutinizing this exact area closely. 2026-08-23 (third pass): Orthodox Empire's theopire bucket split into three related-but-distinct colors, same treatment as Sunni Caliphate/Shia Bloc -- Greek Orthodoxy (Greater Greece, Romania, Moldova, Constantinople -- the Byzantine/Chalcedonian lineage sharing Constantinople's own tradition), Oriental Orthodoxy (Ethiopia -- a genuinely separate communion, out of communion with the other two since the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD, not just a regional flavor of the same church), and Orthodox Empire itself now reads as specifically Russian/Muscovite, its original core. All three still show as one purple family at a glance, distinguishable up close -- the point is to surface a real doctrinal fault line inside what used to be one flat bloc, not to hide it. 2026-08-23 (fourth pass): two political-subsumption fixes. First, Eastern Thrace/Constantinople folds straight into Russia's own kingdom rather than staying its own separate entity -- it was the actual war aim, worth ruling directly rather than at arm's length, unlike the client states below. Serbia and Montenegro split off from Dreikronerreich into their own named puppet kingdoms (still Catholic Union theopire, still politically answering to the Habsburg crown) since both had real standing local institutions worth ruling through rather than erasing -- Bosnia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia stay fused straight into Dreikronerreich itself, since none of them had an equivalent institution to preserve. Second: Dreikronerreich's own Spain deliberately never unified into one polity in the first place. Crown of Castile, Crown of Aragon, Kingdom of Navarre, and the Basque Provinces replace the single 'Spain' entry, split along their real historical composite-monarchy seams (the same arrangement the actual Spanish Habsburgs ruled through until the Bourbons centralized it after 1707) -- a distant emperor in Vienna has every reason to keep Iberia's old fault lines open rather than let a unified Spanish identity ever have cause to ask why it's taking orders from half a continent away.
